something sad that happend today

http://www.wpri.com/dpp/news/local_news/east_bay/tiverton-man-missing,-empty-car-found read this first but just feel i should tell other people about it. so i went down to my grandmas today with my dad to get the mail and i heard about this story yesterday when the guy jumped off and the rescue vechicals and boat were still in the water the next day looking and after i got what i need for my boat at my grandmas i told my dad i was going to go for a walk to the bridge were it happen and me and him didn't think they were going to find the body because of the crazy tides that are there there strong in that area. so i walked to the bridge and when i got there the cop car was now on the bride there was a little more crowd than there was before and right when i go the bridge looked over the side were the rescue boat was they were just pulling the body out of the water. so i turned away since i didn't want the image of the guy in my head he was dressed an every thing just the view of a dead body it kinda strange feeling. so wanted to share my experience i kinda wish i didn't go to the bridge now but now i have a story to tell people. also this was a suicide case he had weights on him you would have had to bin there to know that detail

Okay...I am going to try to be gentle here, even though part of me wants to jump all over you for making another family's tragedy "something sad that happened to me today". I realize that seeing a dead body can be traumatizing sometimes. TRUST ME when I tell you this...you got off easy on that one. It could have been MUCH worse visually. Don't make any assumptions here or otherwise about how it could have happened, especially if it is still under investigation. Could have been a mob hit for all you or any of us know. My point is, this is not about you. Say a prayer or ten for the family that lost a member, and say a prayer or ten for those that did the searching and recovering of that body. Take a step back a look at how blessed you are to be alive. There is a big world out there, bud. And it ain't an easy one. This one person hits home for you because it is so close. All those people you see on the news are somehow not as real...almost like a movie. You want to feel bad...but you can't. Now you see this, and it gives you a very small, very brief view of the real world. I wish I could describe to you some of the things I have seen here. And I am positive that any of the folks that have been to a war zone have similar horrific stories they could tell you. Let this one be a lesson in life while you are young...you are NOT invincible...it CAN happen to you...and you should LISTEN to what others tell you when they offer good advice.

i didn't mean for the title to be meant that way. i meant what happened today was sad and i was there. i didn't me for it to be about me. i feel bad for the family because of there loss and that he could have bin a dad there was a young girl there with a baby, part of the family group.

You know, I went through this a few years ago, with one of my good friends, his son committed suicide, and I felt a profound sense of loss, it felt like it did happen to me, this young man spent many years during hunting season drinking hot chocolate by my fireplace after a day of hunting with his dad and buddies. It was a profound experience to say the least.....Then the phone call came two years later, it was my Dad, telling me my sister had been murdered by her husband and he had then committed suicide, I thought that going though this with my friend was about as bad as it gets, but let me tell you, until it is you flesh and blood, as sad as it is, it is a completely different feeling.

Say a prayer for the family that lost, and I am not being mean at all, and pray nobody has to go through a sense of loss like this, but it is entirely different when it is your family member.

May Gods hands caress those who have lost so much, my prayers are with them..

So very true, brother. Cancer seems to be the murderer in my family. But we will not go there right now. We mourn for those left behind, as the loss is theirs alone. Those who are no longer with us have gone on to a better place than this.

I hear ya, I have lost far to many family members to cancer, so I know exactly what you mean..

Deaths, especially preventable deaths of young people, are a real tragedy no matter how you look at it.

Many years ago when I was a young teen, a young man tied weights to himself in the fall and jumped in the town pool. He parked is car in front of the pool entrance left a note on the car windshield simply saying "Look in the pool". A police officer (a rookie if I remember correctly) found the car, and wrote a parking ticket. A few days later a tow truck was called to tow the car. The tow truck operator read the note, jumped the fence, and found the body in the bottom of the pool.

I remember sitting on my bicycle watching the body being pulled from the pool. I just stopped to see what the commotion was all about at the pool because it was closed at that time of year and it was just a few blocks from my house. No one looks good after being dead in the water for a few days. And I will always remember that event. The kids family were devastated, the whole town mourned.

Suicide is a tragedy, but suicide of young people seems to be especially tragic and great loss of life.

Regardless, suicide will always be with us, a reminder of how emotional pain can drive people to extremes.

Well said, Target. As an emergency responder, it always amazes me the large number of people that want to view another's tragedy. Call it curiousity, call it nosey, call it whatever you want, but the bottom line is it is someone's tragedy! Someone is hurting, someone is experiencing loss. Someone wishes it was yesterday and they could do things over again, say something that went unsaid, change a behavior, or just do something to altar the circumstances. In those times the best thing that can be done is to say a prayer and unless you are a personal friend or relative, or have some vested interest in the family, leave them alone to grieve. Nobody likes spectators enjoying the show of their loss.

And it would make the job of the emergency personel, the clergy, and those that need to be there so much easier, they could focus their attention on those in need rather than the curious mob. Just my $0.02. Take it for what it is worth, with inflation, probably not even $0.02 anymore!

When I lost my sister, the group that really made me mad was the news, man those people can be ruthless, I almost punched a newspaper editor in the mouth over some of the implications and inuendos he was trying to put forth!
