Something is wrong with "Home made special tools"

Hi forum,

I could not find any way to contact moderators directly, so, I started this thread hoping that someone will respond.

OK, I want to check what is available under the "Home made special tools" to remove the gimbal bearing (MerCruiser). There are two tools listed, #3 and #7, but those links do not work. Instead of the tools, those links take me to some other (irrelevant) thread.

Is something wrong with me (like a browser) or this is a forum problem? Can someone inform sysadmin to take care of that?

Thanks!

Hi Rick,
Thanks for your response. But, I knew the page. The problem is that those links are broken. They lead to a wrong place. Did you try to check them? Please, try to click on some of them (e.g., #3 and #7).
Thanks.

Hi all, yes, the change from VB to the new software did break a few links. As we find them, we're fixing them. You guys reporting them will help that process.

Thanks Rick. When we get a chance to check those, we'll make fixes. The stickies got messed up during the switch to the new system and has been slow going to fix.

Hi achris,

Thanks! Can you also fix the link for tool #7, please.

As the links are broken, we have to search for the post/thread that it originally linked to. That takes time, but if you manage to find them, please post the links and we will certainly add them back to where they belong.

If my memory servers me correctly, u will need a good slide hammer with claws that fit inside gimbal bearing if your want to pull gimbal bearing. I assume bearing is "rough???" Google "Mercruiser outdrive removal tools" may help. Good luck! I also believe there is a turnbuckle type tool that will pull out bearing. Remember, that you will have to use a tool to install new bearing.
