Re: Someone please tell me what I want!?!?!

One of the things that I think about when I buy a boat is how easily it will be to sell it after X number of years. . .

so, if you buy a niche boat (like a 'ski' or 'wakeboard' boat), then you are going to have to sell into that market, which is smaller than the general boating market of similar sized boats. If you buy a bowrider with swim platform, that is desired by a broader market.

Another thing about selling, is power. You want decent or good power, not marginal power.

I think the future selling aspects of the boat are important, because usually as a first boat, you upgrade in a few years.

As suggested earlier - go to one of the local lakes, and rent a boat.. Maybe check out a pontoon (which may even suit your needs, plenty of room for family and passengers, comfortable lounging..and most of which these days have more than enough ooomph to pull some tubers..
If you have a decent idea of what you want, grab the family and rent a boat for the day, make sure everyone enjoys it and its the style of boat you want.. $250 for several hours/the day well spent.

19-21' center console with u built-inbow seating and an outboard. best general purpose family recreation design, hands down, especially for coastal areas. Look at sea hunt's website for examples (there are other good brands, too) and look at them in person at the show room even if you are buying used. All that padding and carpet is a liability in the long run.

The difference is $2K in the asking price.

they are totally different boats.

Carrera - wind in your face (it gets old real fast) . . . low freeboard (lakes only, calm days)

Reinell - Set up for water sports . . . can handle a broader range of conditions.
