I just got a 1975 MFG for free. It has been sitting in the Las Vegas sun for years, and needs some work, but that's not my problem. My problem is, I need to know what size OB to put on it. It's 15', and we want to at least be able to pull a skier with it. If anyone knows what size motor would accomplish my goals, please let me know.
(also see post: 1975 MFG Help please)
Thank you!

sin_city_autowerkz:

I do not anything about MFG but there is a great website, FiberGlassics.com, related to old figerglass boats & they list contact info for questions, etc.. Maybe they can help you out... at least it is a start. I hate for someone's post just to sit there... so here you go...

MFG boats

Re: SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

There should be a sticker or plate somewhere on the hull. It might be by the transom or by the helm. This is called a capacity sticker. If it has been removed, all bets are off.
It will depend on the amount of freeboard (side hieght) and the hull's wieght.
A very ruff esimate would be 40HP 2cycle max.
And 400lb passenger max..But this is a very ruf guess.

I have a 15' 9" MFG which is pushed by a 60HP Johnson. Plenty of power for a skier. My ID plate is missing and therefor I cannot rate the boat but it rides fine.

Liam
