Nice

Good luck w the health stuff, ugh is right
Thanks. I forgot to mention that I have surgery scheduled for the 28th for a different issue. Will be the 13th time for that one. And I'll have a follow-up surgery 6-8 weeks after that too. Sigh.

Need a username change to Steve Austin?

Or are they only taking stuff out, no high tech replacements?

EDIT: sounded funny in my head, in print, not so much....

Lee Majors made it happen. :playful:

They're taking stuff out. Again. It keeps coming back. They'll be injecting a new drug this time to try to prevent regrowth later. I hate going under, but it's necessary. Blech.

I have a surgey planned for between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not looking forward to that either.

Pretty soon your boy is going to want paid for having fun on the mower

Keep your chin up and looking forward to that day your Chief rolls down the ramp toward some smooth water and clear skies.

Well guys, I made it through the surgery okay today. Having the usual anesthesia side effects though. Blargh. :puke:

Can't imagine going through that during the holiday season.

One good thing - the opioid post-op painkiller is helping with the aches and pains from my other situation. I wonder how long I can stretch that out?

Well, a moment of clarity hit me last night. Just before bedtime I recollected that on the morning of my surgery that the anesthesia doc told me that they were going to give me some steroids during the operation. Hadn't remembered it till late last evening. I guess that's why they say not to make important/legal decisions or to operate a car or other machinery for at least 24 hours after being under anesthesia. The ol' noggin doesn't work right!

And the steroid during surgery is likely why I was feeling better with no aches and pains yesterday. I'd only taken the one pain pill in the morning, yet I'd felt good all day. Still pretty good this morning. The steroid slowly wears off over a few days. If I'm very, very lucky, maybe my adrenal glands will "reset" after the steroid help during the surgery and start working normally and producing cortisol again.

So I'll know more over the next couple of days. If the heavy pain gradually returns, it means that it was the steroid that helped and as it wears off, the symptoms come back. And if that happens, it means that I probably do have Polymyalgic Rheumatica which is a corollary condition with the GCA that I've had for the last couple of years.

If I do have PMR, I'll have to go back on the steroids for treatment. Although I'm not supposed to be on them for at least a month prior to my next surgery, which is less than 2 months away. The ol' Catch-22 situation. Might try using the pain pills to bridge me over so that I can at least function somewhat while waiting for the surgery. Then go back on a lower dose of steroids after that to work on the PMR. That may or may not be a long term treatment. :grumpy:

At least I'll know what's going on and can develop a treatment plan so that I'm able to work on the yard and boats and whatnot! ;)

When you don't have your health it's tough for anything else to matter so try to keep your mind focused on the good things around you. Just don't add another issue and get hooked on those pain killers as so many people do nowadays.

We'll send good thoughts your way

Keep on keeping on
Thank you, sir! Will do!

I hear ya! I'm very reluctant to use the pain pills and will even split them in half if I do. I have zero interest in becoming dependent on anything!

So I stepped outside this morning. First time I've been out of the house since my surgery 4 days ago. It was nice to walk around the yard a little. Temp was only 77 but humidity was 97%. Stifling!

I just wanted to see how the yard was doing. Checked on how the grass was growing on the formerly bare spots. The "summer" grass is coming in nicely. That is... "some are" grass and "some are" weeds!

But overall, things are greening up nicely after all the yard work that's been done over the last couple of months. I think I'll feel good enough in another day or two so that I can get out there and cut the grass again. :D

Hey I have an idea, you can make a SC park like a dog park where people can bring their boats to play and mingle

Your hard work is paying off. The place looks great after you "parked it out". Stay healthy and don't overdo it on the yard work.

Thanks for the support, guys. It really is much appreciated! :)

I did in fact get the grass cut today. And we ordered another load of fill dirt! It'll be here tomorrow morning. I'll send a pic of that to my buddy and ask him to get the pad area finished. GOT to get this shelter thing done!

I'm itching to finally get back to working on boats! Then again, itching might indicate more of a glasser condition?? :noidea:

Speaking of boats... the boy and I started getting the Kingfisher ready this morning for a fishing trip this coming weekend. We bought a new tarp for it and did some prep work on the boat, then covered it again because of pending rain.

I haven't been in a boat in EIGHT MONTHS and I'm finally feeling well enough to climb aboard and do some fishing! :fish2: :D

Hopefully the weather will cooperate. :rain:
