Nice looking knee Gunner...I had a hard time understanding you delima but on a second look I think I figured it out. I dunno about taking a grinder and cutting wheel to that brace (don't know what else to call it). If your worried about the way it sits on the trailer then modify the bunker boards. Rather than remove material, I'd add a shim in front of these thingamagigs and create a notch for them to ride in. Recarpet and walla, will this work?

Those little things? I have a hard time believing these little tabs are causing that much plow. I thought they were from the tabs you were trying to mount. You have that hull buffed so much it looks like Chrome! I think these things are there to keep the water
channeled to the prop. Might chinewalk without them?

Those litle things are 11" long run 5" deep and extend below the hull 1/2 inch. I believe thats a lot of push.

I don't know that you would be able to grind those out, I would be concerned that the hull would be compromised. I would also think trim tabs would exagerate the problem because these are working like trim tabs anyway. Adding trim tabs would cause even more plowing. Is there any way to move weight to the rear of the boat to try to get the bow up?

 We share the very same concern's and conclusion's.........I'am @ a bit of a loss here.

Maybe i could mold my way out this......but the lip would only exist in a larger form i would think? As to weight transfer i have only two batteries maybe 40 lbs and id like to keep them back there ....less schock etc etc etc

I've been thinking about this for awhile, im gonna drill into one of them and see just how thick they are.

After thinking about this i cannot see why they would be molded into the hull with the same thickness as the hull its self. I maybe wrong here but i think there added on after the orignal mold aka just a thick mold of fiberglass.

I guess what i'am thinking it would be a pain to get a mold or inject into a mold this little prik. And keep the same thickness.......... maybe maybe not but i am going to find out... ;)

I've got a 20' Baja with the same hook at the very rear of the hull. It's supposed to be there. Two other boats I've owned have had the same thing. If you grind those off I think the boat would become unstable at higher speeds.

Re: Some experienced help here ..Hull Hook?

I am just guessing, but it would not surpise me at all if they were a part of the mold and are the same thickness as the rest of the shell. It does pose an interesting dilema, considering you already have the batteries at the back of the boat and there is nothing else to shift.

Maybe another idea before you start modifying would be to have someone in another boat take some pics of your boat when it is running at speed through the conditions and running attitude you are concerned with. It is remotely possible the boat is running at an apropriate attitude and it is a perception thing. I did this with my boat and it removed all doubt as to whether it was running at an acceptable attitude or not. It is possible it is as good as it can get, and you might have to either endure it or get another hull. Good luck....

Try trimmimg out a bit to raise the bow. 2-3 foot chop is kinda hard on a boat you know.

Re: Some experienced help here ..Hull Hook?

Actually this boat is a 20 dergree deep vee, its a 17 footer and at 40 it should be able to run on a 2 foot chop without a problem.

Now it has been a few years and my bones are a bit more senstive and my memory is probably a bit foggy..........umm almost lost my thought's there. What is really happening is the boat or the nose is being pushed down, there is no float @ all or skipping.

I will say this it is my fisrt inboard and as Jason say's it might be a charatrastic of the design..

Gonna repost and see if i can get a opinion from a few who have working knowledge of boat from this era where built in hooks were used

Realgun if the boat is not trimmed all the way out there wouldnt be a chance of running on a 2 footer not even. i run trimmed out most of the time.
