White seats w/ tan carpet...

I have talked with 2 other owners of all black crownlines and from what they say it really isn't that much hotter.... upkeep is a bit more... but i tend to baby my boats.

That's a really HOT looking boat that will -- sadly -- be a really HOT feeling boat after a couple hours in the sun.
I'd say after a couple of minutes  I still strongly recommend against this except the light colored interior gives it some limited potential. I just hope that you understand no one will even be able to lay their arm down on the hull . . . Yes, kids climbing up will be an issue. Any chore whatsoever where you actually have to touch the boat will be an issue. Vertical surfaces less, but I believe that people will literally get burned on a hot day.

I am somewhat of a fascist when it comes to this and believe all boats should be white with blue accents and canvas, this comes from experience though as the blue doesn't fade and the white doesn't hurt . . . ;)

just for a comparison. i work on cars that've been out in the sun all day sometimes. a white one i can probably write the invoice up for the customer on the car trunk. a black one, i don't have enough time to finish their name on an invoice because i can't touch the black long enough w/o gettin burned.....like only moments. and that's on a 90* day. it gets to 100+ here......

i agree, that's a sweet looking boat. looks real good in black too. and i don't even like black personally, and i'm not refereing to the heat absorbsion of black, just my preferance...but from the burn stand point i hope ya can find something else........like qc said. ya aint even gonna be able to put yer elbow out the window onto the hull for gettin burned.....that won't be any fun......rf probably sumed it all up really...........
Big Mistake

Well after all your advice and way too much thinking we decided to just go with the white (with black gelcoat trim) boat. I am it is weird because we are a bit bummed we are doing that since we fell so in love with the all black boat. But in the end i suppose functionality wins over "owning a sweet looking boat." Oh well... at least i still get a new boat:)

I had a black surfaces on my small cuddy cabin. You could not even touch the black gelcoat in the summer. Even the textured black surface for the swim platform was too hot to touch. To use the swim platform we had to douse it with water prior to setting foot on it.

My buddy has a all black jet ski. Looks killer until you wanna ride it. you HAVE to splash water on the seat otherwise youll burn. he has to constantly clean it and its more of a PITA than anything I ever known.
Thats a small jet ski maybe 10 feet long 3 feet wide. your boat has to be 4x as much work
Perosally I feel it looks really really cool but its not a practical thing. There is a guy in Long beach that has a black speed boat liek a 35 footer and it looks killer but when we come in hes already in and were done washing and hes still there

Re: Solid Black boat? too hot? scratches?

just notice you are in WA state, my not be as big a problem, as here in FL.

TD, we get super summers here (last year no rain for something like 77 days), and although seldom gets hot (average 70, 80's) its an intense sun (we get 16 hours of daylight this time of year), and that would be maybe a problem.
Anyway, if ya use it on the freshwater lakes like Lake S.., not a big of a problem, but if ya use it in the Saltwater here.....man, it will look like crummy metalflake first spray on it.
My take is next sunny day, have whos ever selling it stick it out in the sun for a hour...then feel her up like an 18 year old..(the boat that is!)
