has anyone used or have had luck using the solar pannel trickle chargers?

As a maintainer for a all ready charged battery they are fine.

They however do not put out anywhere near the proper amount of current to charge a depleted battery in a timely manner.

I have brought mine camping a few times on 5 day trips. They do not top off a deep cell battery. They do put some current back into the battery extend usable life for the trip but not by much. Much better used to keep a back up battery or an unused vehicle topped off.
