There is 2 soft spots in the transom 5 inches little cracks in the fiberglass. can i widen the cracks and fill with fiberglass resin? And drill little holse in the transom and inject resin in the holes to make the soft spots firm. I "thumped" the transom with my fist and it seams pretty solid.

Am i goofy for thinking this way?

Re: soft spot in transom

To be quite truthful, alot of people have thought this way, but the way most boats are, to the best of my understanding, that once the wood gets wet, the wood stays wet, and it actually wicks up into all of the wood. And if it is soft, that means it is rotten and rot spreads like wildfire. If I were you, I would bite the bullet and do what alot of people on here have already done, replace the wood core. Sorry bud!

Yep.

I think you know the correct answer but are just looking for an easier way to do the repair. Unfortunately the rotten wood needs to be removed and replaced with new. Or you can always go the Seacast route. Personally I would replace the wood. If properly done will last longer than you care to keep the boat.

Have a great day,

Rob.
