Re: Soft or Hard Tackle Boxes

I saw that plastic box. It was available when I bought my soft side. I like all the zippered pockets and the zipper plastic pocket under the top for maps etc, also the compartments for jaw spreaders, needle nose pliers etc that's part of the soft side..... Not sure why they downsized to the cube. Maybe there were complaints the other one was too big.... Wimps....Lol Mine is 28" long not including the pockets on each end...

Re: Soft or Hard Tackle Boxes

Thanks for the tip! I will check them out.
As for the line. This is not open water fishing. Lots of trees weeds, rocks, boulders etc.
85lb for Muskie fishing is the norm. Lots of guys go up to 100lb braid. These fish have big teeth and can weigh near 70lbs and over 5ft although that is a record fish there are bigger ones out there. I hooked a huge 50"+ fish over the summer while using 30lb and he snapped it like nothing. Started using 50 then upped my rod and real and went to 85. Its basically fresh water shark fishing. lol
Why bother using a rod and reel? Just tie them off to a cleat and drag around for a while.

No such thing as a huge 50"+ fish.....our bass get that size. :D They don't get huge until........

Friends of mine on their honeymoon last year

Some more friends of mine. This isn't a bad fish either...

Now those are some huge fish.

Still a different ball game though. If it were a trolling set up in deep water I prob wouldnt need or want 80lb. We cast lures up to a pound in as little a 2ft of brush, rocky and weed filled water. You need heavy line to break through all that and pull fish out of it. Nothing worse than losing a 25-40 dollar lure a nice leader and a nice fish.
This is what we are after

I hear ya. I have lures in mine that haven't been used in years. Always seem to go to the old standbys even if they don't catch fish anymore...

And............. what are you doing online? Get out in that boat! :fish2:

As far as heavy line, when you're fishing muskies all day a person periodically has to clip off the last 2ft because of all the fraying from "structure".........

I'm old school, like the hard case and biggest one I can find, holds a couple hundred lures. I have two of them. Take a lot of abuse and keeps on going. Like a tackle box that opens up so you can see everything. I do have a lot of built in storage plano boxes on the boat though.

My New soft case is already full so Im going to get a Just Encase box made it fit in the U section of my front deck. Perfect for my Muskie lures and will add extra space to stand on.
