......pretty interesting lead up to the Olympics, between the cost...the security issues, LGBT community issues, you name it. Apparently the corruption going on with respect to the construction is pretty darn funny but it wouldn't be the Olympics if it wasn't shrouded in problems and corruption I guess...LOL
Hopefully everything settles down a bit so they can get started tomorrow and Saturday.
I'll settle in towards the weekend on it I suppose.

All Good

Winning some Golds would be great but... all participants, crew and family getting home safely would be golden.

The security is so bad I'm almost afraid to watch on my TV for fear my set will blow up!

Have you heard about the pillow shortages and the water the color of beer? Russia is still the same Russia it has always been. If they can't even find enough pillows for the athletes, how can they even do security properly.

My in-laws went to Russia a couple years ago and they said it was a real eye opener, like everything that's being reported now.

This picture made me laugh, no toilet fishing over there I guess :D

The last one, I have no idea what that's supposed to be depicting. Don't fall off the toilet  Or is that person holding a plunger?

I like the last pic. It looks like a hand grenade not a plunger.

It says don't sit on the floor because of what is happening in the upper right picture.

They also need new translators for their menu items:

...the last pic is someone sitting on the floor shooting up I think. Its hard to believe that isn't welcome (or normal) in a public washroom....LOL
I was listening to the reaction of the some of the (Canadian) athletes to their accomodation....pretty sparse, plastic chairs, not even a picture on the wall. There have been a few comments about this being some sort of 'tactic' by the hosts to throw the visiting athletes off their game.
I get the feeling tho' that they are just waaayyyy behind in having things ready so they are doing some last minute improvising alongside a few comfort omissions.
Most of these Olympic events start off firing on only a few cylinders but pick up and improve as the games unfold....lets hope we see some of that.
Its going to be quite a time change for us to watch the events live......unless we stay up in the middle of the night w/ 12 hrs difference I think.
Oh, well...there will still be some great events and competition.

Remember these people brought us the Lada, not pretty, not comfortable-But bullet proof. LOL

(and you could ice fish through the trap door in front of the passenger seat day or night as it came with a trouble light)

Its a shame what our athletes are going through over there, Russia should be embarrassed, but I am sure they will appreciate what we have over here so much more.

I saw pics of the hockey players rooms, for god sakes my kids had bigger beds.

I don't know what to say about the pic that dan posted...WTF??

So, middle pic on the left;

Is that don't drink out of the toilet?

Or don't puke in the toilet?
