Re: So you're out on the water and it hits you
<snip>At night we go over the side.

Now that just ain't right, and here's just one of the reasons why....
A couple of years back I was trolling along on the aux engine in a borrowed boat (fathers) when the motors sorta surged, coughed and died.
Checked all the usual, fuel, spark etc, no joy. After 10 minutes of head scratching and yanking on the cord, it finally started, but nothing coming out the telltale, " Aha!" I'm thinking it overheated and shut down.
So any ways to get to the gruesome part...(you just know what's coming don't cha?)
I tip the motor up and one side of of the intake is gummed up in some kinda brown goo, it's not until I try to sorta scrap/flick it off with my finger and the odour reaches my nostrils the full horror dawns on me. Yeap a 20 square mile lake and I had found a little brown package no more than 2"x6'' (go figure the odds on that!)
Dry retching all the way, I finally got the bulk of it off the motor and out from under my fingernails and we carried on our way. I now check blockages with much more caution and while it would be going a bit far to say it scarred me for life, I'm highly nervous about any "nature" coloured substances adhering to any part of my rig.
So please don't crap in our lakes, make shore and dig a hole or if you can't get to shore ,crap in a container and take it home with ya.
