Re: So how many years have you been fishing?

lol, around here, it's more trips. Never seen an add for a guide for a lake. Pay $70-135 and go out with some guys to a place I'd never be able to get without a bigger boat and usually in the bay or ocean. I'd like someone to go to the shore or out in my boat in a local lake and just pick like 3-4 different lures out of my box that would work there. Then show me how to use them. I'd also like someone to help me learn how to use my fish finder (older not so good one) to see what the floor looks like for where fish would be. I'm new to all of this stuff.

Have you called any of your local guides to ask? I know of at least 5 local guides that do exactly that. You can take your boat or his. You can use your tackle or his. If nothing else see if you can hook up with a local fishing club.

We?re on the East Coast, but you should have similar organizations locally.

Cool, I'll check into it. Thanks! I know there are clubs around here somewhere. I know there's a float tube club at my local bass pro shop.

I've been totally in love with fishing since age 4. I baited my
hooks, and took the fish off the same day I learned. I remember spending countless hours catching small stripers, and perch two
at a time - my best memories. Now I'm 49, and I love it as much as the first day - I have never been to a ball game - rather go
fishing!

I have been fishing since i was about 6, so 17 years of my life, my first fish was with my dad on an interstate lake while i was at my grandmas house one summer..... 7lb walleye. After that it was game over, i got my first poll that christmas and just this fall retired the poll it has a special place on my living room wall, i could bear the thought of breaking it... to many memories and prob thousands of fish caught with it. Tight lines :)

Grew up with a rod in my hand, my dad was a very dedicated fisherman. I'm 53 now so you can do the math. It's a great sport and I took my kids when they were small (they still fish now) and I take the grandkids every chance I get.

About 56 years. My Granddad lived on a backwater to a fair size lake and he took us kids out a lot. Grandmay had one rule. You catch it you clean it, she cooks it, and you eat it. Still don't care for perch, bass, catfish, or other similar whitemeated fish, but trout or salmon ,especially kokanee I love.

I have been fishing for about 32 years. Fishing is my release from everyday problems. By living in the Great Lake State you can't go wrong when it comes to fishing. From swinging flies for steelhead, jigging for walleyes, Texas rigging for bass, trolling for salmon, bobber and minnow for crappie, iceing for perch, bucktails and tip-ups for pike, fast trolling for muskies, catching gills off beds.......and the list goes on. The great thing about it is my wife and two daughters enjoy as much as I do. The best saying in our household is " Fish On".

Re: So how many years have you been fishing?

My dad took me fishing when I was 4 and I have never looked back! My dad hails from Portugal and was a Merchant Marine, I grew up in the Pacific Northwest around a lot of water. Had a bass pond behind our house and would go saltwater fishing off the docks near our house in the Puget Sound. Good times!

44 years after my first fishing date with my dad I now I live in MN, and do more freshwater fishing, Walleye, Northerns, Bass and Musky. I have taken my sons (4 boys) out fishing as soon as they were old enough not to fall/leap out of the boat (3-4 yrs old). I taught my husband how to fish and now he loves fishing too, all he ever fished with before he met me was a worm and a bobber. :D :D

I am not an expert, but what I lack I make up in enthusiasm. Love, just love getting out on the lake in the early morning with the mist coming off the water, coffee beside me and feeling the hit of a nice fish on the line.

Don't really know when I started, but was raised on the TVA lakes in Tennessee and was fishing back as far as memory serves. I do remember I started with an old bait caster (never did master it though) and moved on to spincast and eventually openface spinning reels. I live today on Lake Sidney Lanier in Georgia. Fishing is in mine and my brother's blood and I'll be 61 this year.
