I live in a snow area as many of people do but a few words of advice..............

First don't make any stupid decisions and stay off the roads unless it's an emergency - in other words don't become part of the statistics! I can not tell you how many people get stuck because they were going to the store for a newspapaer!

SHOVELING - If you can enlist, hire or kidnap a younger person to help with sholeving DO IT!!! It is the leading cause of heart attcks and aches and pains.

Stay inside and browse on the computer - it could be safer

You should contract a snow plow jockey for the season. That is a proven way to make it snow less. And.. If it snows more, you're covered. So it is a win win situation.

Every storm has hit on my scheduled on days this year... (critical infrastructure) maybe I need to take a vacation so I can actually enjoy it instead of dreading the drive home.

I have a sisde by side with a 6' plow parked in the garage. I am my own plow guy.......... it's getting old...... however I keep up with the storms.

How do you get up that driveway of yours on these snowy days . . .

Yes snow blowers are great, but you have to be careful with them too! Many ER visits because of people reaching inside to clear clogs. Never do that with any snowblower.
Already fired mine up and ran the generator as well.
Mixed up some more 2 stroke fuel for the little old Toro....

E0 fuel and full syn 2 stroke oil, after starting no smoke at all!

I have never had a snowblower clog where I had to ever been tempted, heck my blower disengages when you let go of the handle. I run a 2 stage 5 hp TORO it can pump snow all day long 12" only means I have to run in 2nd gear.

I have never known any that had accident with snow blower but I have heard a few nasty stories. I’ll never understand why people take that chance.

Filled up the blazer (plow) the other night. Blowers are good. We had an old Murray unit with a square chute. That clogged no matter what you did, just got too restricted with the wetter snow. Everything else got tuned up last storm. I'm going on the trike in the woods when I punch out.

ALL three vehicles are 4WD qne so is my Polaris......... when all else fails I can park at the farm next door and walk up. I have all the banks pushed back so the snow melts onto the lawn and not the driveway.

We are in the thick of it , , , probably 8-10 more hours. Winds are 30 sustained, gusts to 58 mph. The outer Cape (Chatham) has 50 mph sustained 70 mph gusts.

The lights have been flickering most of the morning. I'm holding off on any more fiberglass work in case we loose power (since I won't be able to run the space heater to cure the resin).

They're calling me at 2 feet with 6 inches left to go.... I'd say it's pretty close. My house fell right into the "sweet spot". Dad shoved before I got home I took a turn around midnight and at this point I don't know if I should go now or wait. It's really not as wet of a snow as I was expecting so I haven't touched the blower yet.

The wind finally quit here, it was howling loud all night, not sure how much we got, but it's a lot, varies a lot due to drifting.
Noticed something interesting, I looked on the PSEG Long Island outage map (we didn't lose power) to see how many people were out....
last night 15,000+
this AM, same 15,000+
so I guess the conditions were too bad for any work to be done, which you can understand being it was blizzard/white out conditions.
Not as cold as the last storm so hopefully it won't be frozen rock hard like the last storm.
