Re: Sneaky Snake- 1969 Jet Star

Um, reading is fundamental. I'm a dummy, i said it's a jet star. The dash plaque and data plate say jetSTREAM. I bet that makes a difference in figuring out what we're looking at, duh.
It's a 15' Jetstream V

OK with this new information I found this in the 72 brochure. No jet stream in the 69 or 70 or 74 brochure and I don't have a 73 so let's just call it a 72?

The windshield in the brochure is the same as the Sneaky Snake. And the yellow under the new blue paint also matches. That's 2 votes for a '72.

B-B - you get her on the lake yet?

Re: Sneaky Snake- 1969 Jet Star

Sorry for all the confusion, the reg. card says 1969 Jetstar. It will probably stay that way- i once bought a boat that had two characters transposed on the registration HIN. It was a mess trying to correct it.

GA: i splashed her last weekend(Father's day) when I bought her. It will probably be a few weeks before she's back in action. The carbs on the 50 need to be kitted and I think the rectifier is shorted. I'm pushing to finish a car for Import Alliance at the end of July so time is precious. In fact, SheWhoMustBeObeyed is at the lake now while I'm at home putting a transmission in an Accord so's I can get back to working on my toy. She is deathly afraid of snakes and says she won't get in this boat until I show her a dead snake. Is it that easy?

I have a boat mechanic buddy who needs the AC fixed in his car. I can do that for him easier than rebuilding unfamiliar boat carbs , and vice-versa I'm sure. We'll probably barter- I like it thataway.

Welcome BB, great looking little boat, good luck with the snake, I tend to agree with the little woman.

Ready for the big weekend, laded up behind my favorite tow vehicle

This is another reason I wanted a small, lightweight boat.

nice rig! you don't see too many of the old high-roof Civics around. bet you get >25mpg with boat in tow if it's 2WD version. have you ever compared your car's specs with a 2012 Fit? very close.

FWIW--a leak test filling the boat up to floor level would resolve the issue of the snake pretty fast

I guess you're going to Allatoona. I won't be on the water until late next week or the week after. Too many nuts are out. Have fun and get a gallon of sunscreen. 100+ temps and no clouds are brutal.

Find a dead snake somewhere and show it to the wife. As long as a live one doesn't pop up under her feet during a float she'll never know.

But...you're assuming that I want her in my boat.

Those '88-'91 Civic wagons are a weakness of mine. I think I have six at the moment. This particular one only averages 22 unencumbered. OBD1 Integra swap on spray lol.

I finally got a chance to put her in the water again. Carbs still need work, we just haven't had the time.

I intend to routinely trailer with my 4wd Civic, but it doesn't have a hitch yet.

Hi gang, it's been awhile!
We're just now getting ol' Sneaky sorted out. Had some major home projects that took priority, and the engine had some intermittent electrical gremlins that were hard to track down. I did get to waste a few tanks of gas this weekend, though!

Trailered her back home for the first time in months, need to fix the nav lights, generally cleanup wiring

Looking great man!

How does she pull behind the civic? Any issues pulling it out of the water?

Glad you have been able to get her out before the winter sets in!!! :)

Hey BB - As Jason said, she looks good. :D You're working on the Allatoona mud line. I swear that stuff never comes off. It must be red dye no. 2.

I guess you got her running nice now, when the warm weather breaks. ;)

No problems towing so far. I set that car up to tow a homebuilt camper that weighs nearly double what the boat does.
