What do you guys use. My Matco pliers work fine on the V4 L/U's but are about 1" short for V6 L/U's.

I use the Matco pliers also. Cut the rivet that retains the ratchet locking assy, then remove it. That allows me to use the pliers on any hp model.

You can use those large pliers from Matco, Mac, SnapOn, etc. and have a welder add about 1 1/2" to the length of the nose. I've used a set like that for almost 25 years and they are still doing fine. The OMC extensions work OK but they can twist if you have a difficult one to install.

Aftermarket companies make a similar one. If I remember right, one was Bob Kerr, the company who makes test tanks and motor stands. Kerr's Marine Tool Co, PO Box 771135, Winter Garden, FL, 34777, USA, (tel) 407 656-2089, (fax) 407 656-8633.

You can also contact www.precisionmfgsales.com and email them or download the complete tool catalog as a .pdf file.
