Hi all,

I am a newbe to this site so be gentle with me :)

I have a Sea Ray 160 with a Searay badged mercury ( I think ?? s/n C1164364) 100hp engine. (electric start, 4 cylinder 2 stroke, oil injection).

I have hd the boat a year, but hardly used it, and then only for short slow trips.

It normally starts ok, even though I normally have to push the button on the control to disengage the gears and increase the revs to keep it going for a while.

When starting from cold it would smoke a bit for a short time then ok

Yesterday it was towed a short way down the river to a new location marina (Dry Stack)

When starting it, it gave out excessive blue smoke and idled roughly then cut out. Then I have to repeat the starting proceedure as above, but all the time the starter was struggling to turn it over till in the end it would not even do that. If it did, it would cough into life briefly then top. There was stlll loads of smoke.

The battery is a heavy duty job, and other kit on the boat was working ok after, and the battery measured ok.

There is plenty of oil in the tank and I have fitted a new oil level sensor as the last one was u/s.

I have left the battery on charge, but am concerned about running it in case it may be seized or something else major ???

As I am a new customer a the new marina, I don't want to cause agro by the smoke, and I have no means now to move the boat to sort it out.

Any help would be appreciated please
