Smart Tabs ? ? ?

I am buying a 2010 Tahoe Q8i 350 MAG MPI 300 hp, Bravo - 1 I/O.

I was doing some research on the smart tabs and am wondering if any one has had any problems with them stressing the hull, blowing out or cracking it? Do these tabs or any tabs void the 5 year hull warranty (due to having to drill the transom or the added stress to base of the transom)?

I have seen how tabs work on bigger boats but never new how they really affected the structure of the boat. I understand and seen in person how tabs work.

I have them on my q5 and have not had any problem and they work great, but go w/ the 60lb acutrs.80 is to much.heres a pic.

With 300 HP he might need the 80's.... I have a 190hp and needed the 60's so I would image with a 300 HP 80's would be a must.. I would contact Nauticus and ask them... Their phone number is on their website and they can tell you what size you will need..

I took it out last week-end for the first time and the water was at a mild chop, about 18". It wasn't a bad ride like I would of thought. The only thing with this bigger boat is I wish it would plane faster. It rides the waves really well. All I really had to do was adjust the trim of the outdrive a little bit.

If you want it to plane faster get the tabs... I was planing at around 17-19 MPH and now I am at 13-14 MPH and can alway see over the bow... They are worth every penny...

I just got off the water yesterday and was really checking and testing the tabs I put on late last year. I`ve got the Q6 5.0 60lb tabs, and they made a huge difference on my boat. When I first bought the boat, I was a little bummed out by the ride in mild chop and also when accelerating. The bow would rise way up for a few seconds, and I would have to throttle way back over small chop due to porpoising.The tabs took care of all that, and it`s amazing how quickly the boat will plane. No more bow in the air at all. Small chop is not even a problem, boat cruises right thru. Hope this helps.
