I dont believe you can mount them on a Q5i. The transom is different than the Q4 and 6's but I could be wrong. I am not sure if Nauticus has come out with a mounting system for that particular transom yet.

Post some pictures of your boats transom. I would also give the guys at Nauticus a call. They are very helpful.

I put smart tabs on my Q5i, it took some doing but they work great. I mounted them first putting screws in the center holes only and used epoxy as a filler to fill the gaps (curvature of the transom). I let the epoxy dry a couple days, drilled the holes and they have worked great ever since.

Hey Froust, thats a sweet looking boat! I bought my Q6 used and love it, but your black and white Q5 would look great behind my black Acadia.:D

Re: smart tabs on a q5

I installed Smart Tab SX's on my '09 Q5i a couple of weeks back. I allowed the mounting bracket to follow the contour of the stern. I was concerned that this would put too much stress on the nylon pens used to install the tab...took the boat out this week...so far so good.

One of the main reasons I installed the tabs was to reduce wandering at low speeds (<10 mph)...they work like a charm.

Also installed my fish finder transducer just to the left of the starboard tab. Fish finder performs very well from 0 to 40 mph...didn't go any faster that 40.

Find attached a couple of pictures.

I just picked up a 09' Q5i SF... Looking to get some of these tabs for sure. Anyone consider the PR500 brackets on the SX tabs? Is the hull too curvy? My transducer is down by the sterndrive... can sort of see in the pic.

Have you installed your smart tabs yet?
Richards2009/ jbfroust do they interfere with the swim ladder where you mounted them? They look aweful close.

I have not... made another post to try and get some more feedback on the PR500 brackets. What about you?

Re: smart tabs on a Q5

No I'm like you I want some more info. I'm not crazy about mounting them outboard like these guys did (because I'm worried they will be broken by someone on the swim ladder) but mounting in the out-drive cove looks like they will cause a problem with trailering. The PR500 brackets look like they would be useful but if you mount the tabs in the cove you can't reach the bracket to change the setting. I don't know what to do.

I would think that you will get more answers to your questions when the season starts back up. I wish that I could help you, but I must be pretty lucky cause my boat does not wander at slow speeds. I was worried about this after reading all the posts, but have not experienced it yet. Good luck finding your answer.

Re: smart tabs on a Q5

On my Q6, they're far enough behind the ladder that it doesn't cause an issue. I don't know if it'd be the same on the Q5.

This is the same case. Tomorrow I can go out and take a pic of the tabs on my q4 and ladder.

I want these on my Q5. It wanders really bad. So will the swim ladder be an issue?

Mordekai...Please post pics of the tabs on your Q4 when you get a chance, with close ups of the mounting if you could. I would like to put these on my Q4 as well. Bad wandering at low speeds and would also like to plane out faster.

Re: smart tabs on a Q5

Sorry, not to hijack the thread but how does that prop perform? I've got the exact same boat and I'm still on the stock 3-blade prop. Looking for more hole shot/acceleration. I've been looking at getting a Quicksilver QST-5, otherwise known as a High Five but it's expensive.

Any particular reason you didn't drop pitch any when adding the extra blade? (Mine came with a 21p.)
