Smart Monitor Alarm on Optimax 200

Today I was out in my new boat with a 2010 Optimax 200.

I was floating along at around 1000-1200 RPMs (running about 3-4 mins) when an alarm sounded from the Smart Monitor. It indicated a flashing 'bell' and 'engine' icon. Manual says it means Engine Malfunction. When it happened, I immediately went into neutral. Alarm stopped.

Shut the engine off. Turned it back on 10 seconds later. No problems. Guardian system didn't kick in, etc. The rest of the way home, no problems at all. I'm thinking that something is screwing it up, possibly having unused functions in the SC1000 configured without the sensors present.

Anyone experience this? I'm going to refer to my dealer of course, as it only has 8 hours on it and is a week old so I'm not gonna screw around with an expensive motor that new.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience and suggestions on things I can do.

Also, does anyone know the software and cable I'd need to connect my laptop to read the detailed alarm information? Would help if I could get more details to provide the dealer in advance as they're 1 1/2 hours away.

Also, I the other reason I'm thinking of this may be a result of unused or unavailable sensors is I believe I enabled some oil sensors on the SC1000 (I know the pressure sensor should be fine, but I think I may have inadvertently enable the oil temperature) Being a 2 stroke, there shouldn't be a oil temp sensor as its mixed with the fuel on not in the crankcase.

Anyone with that experience in the past?

UPDATE: Spoke with my dealer... as suspected, since there are no oil pressure and temperature sensors on the boat, it's most likely the ECM looking for values that don't exist as there are no sensors to provide the data.

A reset solved this issue, but for others who may encounter this issue, the recommended resolution is to disable the alarms/displays on the SC1000 for those sensors that aren't present on the engine.
