There was a recent post asking how old an outboard someone has. How about what is the smallest. This one I bought new in about 1953 or so for around $3.50 to put on a wood model of a Chriscraft cruiser I built from a kit. A pricey sum back then for a lad who had just entered his teens. It still runs today unlike many of the motors I bought in the years to follow. I saw one on E-bay a few years ago and with the original box they wanted $150.00 A much better ROI then most everything else I have bought over the years.DSC04953 (2).JPGDSC04950.JPG

Wow!
So it's less than 5 inches high!
Kind of reminds me of the old Cox model airplane engines, only it's for a boat.
Very cool!

I still have the first 049 Cox I bought years ago. Someday my widow will be thankful for me being a hoarder.

I had a Cox engine from the early 60's. It was from a bi-plane that had a string. You just stood there turning round and round. No remote. The string was the remote! I was about 5 years old. Me and my Dad crashed it. I don't know what happened to the trashed plane, but I had that engine with my toys for many years. I used to flip the prop around with my finger because I liked the sound of the piston.
Good memories.
