Not quite sure where exactly to post this question but here it goes... at the back inside of my boat I have a galvanized plate where the exhaust manifold runs thru. The plate has two bolts on each side with a drilled hole in the middle. The boat will leak thru this hole. I had talked to my boat mechanic but he does not know what that hole is for. He told me to just put some adhesive in the hole. But I am not sure what the hole is for and I dont want to but some caulk in the hole if it has a function.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated!! Below if a picture of that I am talking about.

Re: Small Leak

Mines leak in exact the same spot, my transom is shot.
Also the same motor as you have.
As your boat is a '92, er is a chance your transom is rotten.

What about your driveshaft bellows, is it in good condition ?

Re: Small Leak

That hole gets nothing put in it. It's a drain hole in the plate so water doesn't lay in the bottom of the cutout.
You have a leak somewhere, and it's NOT the exhaust bellows. The exhaust bellows could be removed completely and it won't leak inside, besides, it's full of water anyway..
You could have a leak anywhere on the transom shield and it will leak down to the bottom, find where the water is coming in.

First replace that bellows, otherwise you have u-joints and gimbalbearring in the future.
Maybe water is coming tru your driveshaft seal (behind the bearring)
