There is an area in the middle of my floor where the carpet glue has come loose. The surrounding areas are still ok. I don't want to replace all the carpet yet, but I would like to repair this patch without pulling up any of the surrounding carpet. The problem area is probably between 1 to 2 square feet. Is there a trick that would allow me to somehow inject some glue under the carpet without making a noticeable cut. I was thinking of getting a turkey baster or something to squeeze glue under the carpet, but I'm not sure if this will work or if it will cause a bigger mess. Carpet glue is usually thick stuff, so any suggestions are much appreciated.

I have a feeling I am probably going to have to make a cut (maybe a large "X") and fix it that way, but I hate the idea of seeing the cuts. Thanks!

+ 1 on the syringe. Shoot some glue under the carpet, and spread it around with a squeege. SHould work.

If you have marine carpet, you can cut an X and clean the surface with rubbing alcohol, use 3M Super 90 glue (aresol can) on both surfaces. Roll the carpet back down and you never see where the cuts are.

You can also rent or buy a carpet smoother/blender. It'll rough up the cut area so that it blends together and you can't even see the seam. Good luck..

I would highly advise not cutting and trying to patch the carpet - you will wind up with a fraying mess.

For my 2005 tracker, I had similar problem, although my spots were only 6" x 6". I went to Lowes and got a *waterproof* adhesive (I believe a 3M product) and then went to the feed store and got an 18 gauge needle (don't try buying it at a pharmacy - they look at you like you are a crack addict..).

Just inject reasonable amounts under the carpet, then press it down firmly and put a flat, heavy item on top. I used some old 1/4" plate I had lying around.

Good luck!

Joseph, Do you have any recommendations on fixing carpeted armrest that are torn? Overall carpeting for the deck is ok. The two corners outside the fencing on the front of the boat is junk. Can you just buy marine carpet and apply that? I can add some photos if it's helpful.
