Cranking speed is slow, will hardly turn over. I checked the battery voltage at 12.67 volts. Used jumper cables to short across starter, it turned fast, also jumped to hot side of solinoid and grounded to motor, also turned fast. The battery connections look o.k. also if I jump from my trolling motor to cranking motor battery it will spin fast. Battery is new, less than 3 months old. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Ed

Let me see if I understood this one right :
Used jumper cables to short across starter
You connected the jumper cables from battery
- > ground engine
+ > + connection starter
also jumped to hot side of solenoid and grounded to motor
Same connection as above , except connected to the solenoid .

Try connecting the jumper cable from + on the battery to the input on the solenoid ( NOT the - cable )
I the engine turns fast now you got the problem .

If the connections looks good , MAKE shore they are , clean all connections from the battery > starter .
Still not ok , use a voltmeter to check the voltage drop on the cable , See below .

You could also look for hot cables ( heated when cranking, = not good )

Or, just switch out your battery for a known good one and if it cranks fine, have the old one load tested where you got it. Wouldn't be the first time a newer battery was bad....
