Re: Slip Launching Procedure
The bottom line is we need to practice leaving our slip without walking the boat out. We need to improve our coordination so the boat doesn't blow everywhere before we are ready to leave. I realize that walking the boat out is easier and I agree with everyone that it is also not safe. When I back the boat into the slip, I use the same technique as parallel parking. I pull up to the slip next to ours so that the swim platform is just on the edge of the pilling for our slip. I use one engine in reverse and one in forward to swing the boat around the piling and then both engines in reverse for a few seconds to pull the boat back into the slip. The steering is centered the whole time. As soon as we get into the slip someone jumps out and holds the boat while we tie off the lines.
