ski supreme speedo issue

I own a 02 sky supreme just bought it and now the speedo does not work, the guy I got it from said it did . I have had the dash off and all the wiring looks to be intact I have had the paddle wheel and asssembly out and all looked normal. It is a thru hull paddle wheel style any Ideas, I spoke to supreme and they said that usually the gauges outlast the boat. can i test to see if i have power any where or where do i start?

Can i do this with just a run of the mill multimeter? The wiring into the paddlewheel is all one big wire i guess ( a bunch of wires incased in one) but when i go under the dash i have noticed the wiring goes into the speedo and then some wires come off int a silver knob i guess to tweak the speed will i be able to determine if there is power with the boat not running ?

yes, and it depends on your electrical set up. With my boat, the engine ignitions switches just have to be on in the fuse panel for everything at the helm to be live, this isnt in every case tho.
