It looks like my motor is repairable (Allan key bolt thread) so the next step is getting things ready to reassemble the motor when I get it back from the engineers.

My current torque wrench is a cheapy and only reads Foot/Lbs from 28 – 150. From what I can see in the manual the exhaust cover bolts will need to be 115 inch/lbs. Which from the online converters is about 10 foot/lbs.

What sort of torque wrenches do you guys use for this?

Thanks

I like that dial type vs Micro or Snapping type for inch lbs and foot lbs. Although it is hard to watch the dial while you pull 100 ft lbs vs listening for the snap. For that reason I have both types of the larger ft lbs. I will use the dial type to check the accuracy of the snap before using it. A bad experience taught me that due to a bad gear allowing the snap too soon (on what I thought was mid range quality). Do Not Buy Cheap! Is Very Good Info. If you do not know quality notice where your Professional Mechanics buy there tools. Quality Tools are not cheap but you need it in a torque wrench vs a wrench or ratchet that is not measuring torque. Enough Said! vs going to your local Auto and Cheap Stores.

i like the spin handle dial and snap type. You can set it once and use over & over.
1/4" drive for small, 3/8" for medium, and 1/2" for large.
mine are all TOL craftsman and i've been happy for decades.

I was in harbor freight last weekend to cash in on their 7drawer
rolling toolbox. had a $140 coupon. nice toolbox btw.
The little coupon booklet they emailed me had a $30 torque
wrench for $10 coupon. I could use an extra 1/4" drive so
i checked it out. the handle was too long for my purposes
but the wrench looked like a good product.

Re: Show me you?re Torque Wrenches

I used the dial type and I have one of each, 0-120 inch-# and 0-50 Ft-#. For anything larger I have the click type 0-150 ft-#. My most used one for doing boat fixes is the 0-50 ft-# although for torques lower than 10-ft-# I used the smaller inch-# torque wrench. The dial types are more expensive but basically even a dummy can't mess it up.

Thanks for the replys.
I love quality tools. The wrench I have now I bought to tighten the flywheel nut. It was cheap but I thought it would be used once.

I'll have to look around. In Adelaide I can only find cheap ones or the $300:00 professional wrenches. Whilst Adelaide is a nice place to live or prices are much higher than what they are in the States.
