Should we do the anti-freeze for the Mercury four strokes outboard engine?

My friend will leave his home for half an year and he left his engine upright and has not yet done the anti-freeze. Is that OK?

Most outboards drain all water out sitting on the trailer like that.-----Make sure no water is in the gear oil.

Hi. No real need to. But that particular engine has a flushing port on the side of it, you can use even when the engine isn’t running. Just flush it (if salt use) and leave tilted down to drain any water in her. Be more important to check or change the gear oil before winter, I’d say. Just in case there is any water got in there.
