Should I Use hydraulic system stop leak/conditioner in trim and tilt system?

Have 87 Force 125 w/ t @ t. Tilt leaks down in about an hour, and trim in about another hour. Large horizontal bolt is totally frozen (tried everything) so repair of tilt cylinder does not seem to be an option. Boat is usable as is, but am wondering if using hydraulic system stop leak/conditioner might slow the leak down even more. System does not seem to be leaking fluid externally. Any info appreciated.

28 year old seals are well past the additive stage

Stop leak compounds work by swelling the rubber in the seals. Your O-rings are probably deteriorating and leak sealing compounds will probably cause them to leak more. At this point though. The seals will continue to fail and the leak-down will get progressively worse--so-- what have you to lose?

IF your Force has the screw in type valves you can simply swap the front and rear. That may buy you a little more life. (Front valve controls holding trim in the up position. Rear valve controls down and is really not necessary)

I boats or e bay has a o ring repair kit for T&T about 25 bucks, the motor costs about $ 122.00 to $ 130.00, I would search how to remove broken bolts and nuts, studs, I have seen nut breakers, Don't get bummed out, search it and go fix it. Nothing in a can will fix anything, spray some PB blaster on it and wait over night or longer, You got this !

Most time when the bottom mounting bar is frozen, it will not be removable. The problem is that it is stainless in aluminum and that sets up galvanic corrosion. Add the that the fact that the bar goes not only through both transom clamps but four webs in the trim cylinder and you are trying to move a whole lot of metal area.

On the engine these systems are almost impossible to take apart Off the engine you might have better luck--that is if you can get it off. I have at least two systems in my garage that I can not get apart .

On the plus side, the O-Ring in the trim cylinder rarely fails and the culprits in the pump are easy to get at with the pump on the engine or off it.

Possible miracle cures for corrosion: Coke, Marvel Mystery oil, white vinegar, ATF.
