Oops, he surveyed the '96 model.

Yeah I looked at his reviews. It seems like he's pretty harsh on the expensive boats, but, on the other hand, he seems very thorough. Sea Ray did a model redesign in 1998 so, I believe I'm out of the range he reviewed. I hope the surveyor I hire will do as thorough a job. I will definitely report results to the forum.

Oh yeah, she's hot alright, and a great friend too. She's got the goods, all over, whenever and wherever. She's also very smart. We met in college and, 25yrs later, I have no regrets. She can't even swim but she loves the adventure of boating!!! That
s why I love her - she has never shied away from a new adventure!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I did a sea trial yesterday along with the surveyor - WOW!!!!! What a ride. This boat is good, period! I was very impressed with the surveyor and advice anyone buying a used boat to get one. For $20/foot (at my MD locale), it's not a bad investment because this guy basically inspected every inch of the boat. A couple of days before we went on the water, he'd come out and inspected the boat out of water!!! His conclusion: besides the TV that doesn't work and the A/C that needs to be drained, everything works to spec. I do plan to get xtended warranty on most everything.

I drove the boat back to dock and it was quite an experience for me. Let's go boating fellas and thanks for all your help.

Oh, BTW, she doesn't care much for the white interior and would like to have that wood feeling. Any ideas on how to go about replacing the interior? I could care less, but she's the best interior decorator I know, and she's always right!!!!!!!!!!

You should have it inspected by a qualified inspector. Then you will know for sure.

This is the best advice you can get.

My comment is that if you have no boating experience, and you can afford a boat that large, I suggest you start with a much smaller boat, maybe 24-26 cabin cruiser.

Take a boating course, get a smaller boat, bang it up, trash a few props, overheat the motor, jam the toilet, run aground, bounce off a bouy, swap paint with other boats in the marina, etc. Then buy the boat you want.

Just my 2 cents.
