Should I add a Kill Switch, and how.

My new boat , a 85 merc i/o doesn't have a kill switch, I suspect that I should install one, and it may even be a legal requirement.

from a safety standpoint it's sure a good idea. i've thought about getting one. my 1975 boat don't have one either. however i don't think it's a law to not have one. i think that kill lanyard may not be used by too many folks though. they just hook it somewhere close and that's where it stays. out of sight, out of mind......
