Howdy y'all. I'm looking at purchasing this Mariner, what are some things I should look out for/be wary of when I go check it out. The guy wants 800 dollars for it. This would be my second boat restoration but first Starcraft. Any info is helpful, thanks !

Welcome aboard.

It's a project. Does the motor run?

4 pics isn't much to work with. The transom looks like a fair amount of corrosion below the water line.

The seller said it ran the last time out, right?

Go look at it and make sure the motor runs. What about the trailer?

Whats nice about these 80's Mariners is that they have the small ( 11" ) splash well.
That adds about 20" of very usable space in the boat, compared to the 70's models that had the huge 32" splash well.

that corrosion scares me.

I am not sure what corrosion your talking about. Do you mind pointing it out. All I see is a line where barnacles were attached under the waterline of the transom. that's a pretty common sight around here on most boats, its just a layer of calcium/shell from the barnacle. Unless I am missing where the corrosion is?

Looks like more than barnacles going on here. The OP should look closely all over for corrosion.
