Re: short driveshaft 225 looper
I was a victim of such a mistake. Bought a 95 175 oceanpro 2 years ago. Ran great for last 2 years and about a month ago the motor surged and bound up. Upper, Middle, and lower bearings wiped out (upper seized), and journals on the crank all blued. The reason for this is the moron before I had it put a early (pre 94) model lower unit that has a shaft 3/8" longer than the correct one. The o-ring did not engage the crank allowing pressure and oil to escape and water in, and the additional loading on the powerhead did in the bearings. Be absolutely sure the distance from the flange of the lower unit to the end of the drive shaft is identical when swapping lowers on mid 90's v6 loopers. That's about $3700 worth of advise!!!!!!<br />Good luck
