Ships Ground on fiber glass boat.?????

My boat is fiberglass. My new Furuno says to run the ground cable on the back of the unit to the ships ground. What exactly is the ships ground?

This is all about semantics. Depending on the size of your boat, this could be the negative buss, or a seperate ground buss, that is somewhere tied to the negative buss. In most cases, if you have other electronics in close proximity, just run it to the metal case or ground of that equipment.

Don't bother hooking it up. My FCV585 runs fine without.

What Furuno did you get?
