Yes, that is normal as there is a stop on the motor to prevent over revving the motor in neutral.

In the future, it is better to start your own thread than to dig up a year-old one...

Re: Shipmaster/Simplex Controls - Part 2

Hello: Please forgive me if this should be in the forum, I'm a neophyte with this site - I can re-post it there if you wish (once I figure out how to connect with you).
I have a set of shipmaster controls on which the plastic slide (casing guide) over the cable end of the gear shift has broken. This means no reverse - it happened suddenly yesterday on the Columbia River and I went in to shore a little more forcefully than desired. Where does one find these items? Someone said dealers should have them, but my local dealer said "Good Luck!"
Any suggestions?

I found this thread and I am in desperate need of the casing guide inside the simplex control box. It looks exactly like the casing guide in the Type 479 control box. If anyone has a part # or any information on where I can buy one I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Just to make sure i read it right...
i have a 400 system right now. i want to change the box and cables to 479 (single lever). all i needs to do is buy those 3 things (box, two cables) and they will attach to my motor without any issues?
