I'm recarpetting my 19' Sea Ray runabout. I'm thinking of using something called Ship N' Shore boat carpet; it's from CapriCarpet. Has anyone used this before? Do you have an opinion, for or against? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

tuan

Why not just regular indoor/outdoor carpet? Should be a bunch cheaper (catch it on sale).

I've read in other posts on this forum that the home-improvement-center indoor/outdoor stuff should be avoided. It's been called "crap", "junk" etc. I'm not sure why though.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure the carpet in the boat I just bought is home improvement indoor/outdoor carpet.. And according to the previous owner it's been in there for 10years at least. It's dirty, and ugly (striped pattern) but not worn out or anything.

Perhaps somebody will see this thread and 'enlighten' us... I intend to install indoor/outdoor carpet.. unless a good reason shows up ;-)

I have a piece of carpet on my back porch thats been there 8-10 years. got it from home depot, it's a little faded, well maybe a lot faded, but still strong and solid....I put some in my boat 2 years ago, and no problems yet..........

I plan on using Nautolex Vinyl Flooring on my boat. It is scuff resistant, stain resistant. waterproof, and non skid. It has a textured finish.

i reciently yanked the carpet out of my boat...of course im planning to replace floor too.so carpet sort of a have to anyhow.my carpet was rotted out pretty bad ond other people in my area have had the same trouble with the outdoor carpet.it looks ok but after a few years it begins to deteriorate(it is a good thing i never claimed to be a good speller)it does ok until you drag a foot or tacklebox slides.tears very easily.just my 2 cents on the cheap indoor out door carpet.as far as the ship/shore carpet i've only heard about it never seen it in use but told it is quit durable and as long as pricing is reasonable it sounds like a good choice to me.

Prices don't seem very reasonable, $5.75 per sq. yd. (cut) or whole rolls for $4.75.
