I have a 1996 Evinrude 40 hp model E40TEUC that with out the cables will shift into forward fine. However, with the cables it does not shift fully into forward but shifts into neutral and revervse fine. Cables have been adjusted to their fullest extent and I checked the shift rod height which is dead on. Detent on powerhead is not correct and other than adjusting the shift rod (which is correct) I am out of ideas. Anybody? Thanks.
