I have a 1988 Sea Ray Sorrento with a 5.7 Mercruiser alpha 1. I took it out for the first time yesterday and everything seemed to be working fine until I came into the 5 mph zone. The boat would not come out of gear no matter what position the throttle was in. The throttle then became very had to move when I would try to shift it from reverse to forward. After that, no matter which direction I would push the throttle (forward/reverse), It would rev in forward. Right before I got it to the dock the whole throttle seized up and now I cant even move it. Any ideas on what this could be? Thanks

Re: Shifting problem

Ayuh,... I'd probably start at the Lower Shift Cable,+ diagnose from there...

The factory manuals are available in the Adults Only section of this forum...
