I can seem to get this off. I’ve looked through forums YouTube etc. I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with my shift linkage. When pushing forward, the linkage at the 100hp merc outboard doesn’t move. When shifting reverse it does move. I’ve never had to mess with a shifter too much but this thing is giving me a run for my money. Just bought the boat. Originally was a 1995 mercury force on it but the motor is now a 1989 mercury 100 switched out by previous owner. Starts right up runs great. Just no forward. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you !

Are you trying to remove the handle?
If yes, push in the center button, go to full wide-open throttle, carefully pry out the center plastic button, put the handle back into neutral position, should be a 11/16th socket to get out the center bolt.
