A couple of weeks ago I had a friend show me how to press the center button on the shifter that allows you to keep the prop disengaged but the shifter set to a higher idle speed for easier starts when it is cold. Last week I took my boat out again and tried to use that feature but it would not increase the RPM's while I was attempting to start the motor. The shift handle would disengage the prop but there was no increase in the throttle. Does that all make sense? My question is, Is there a certain sequence or something that I am not doing?
Thanks for any input.

It is a real simple system. Make sure the throttle is in neutral. Push and hold the button, and move the throttle forward. You may need to move it 45* (say to 3 o'clock position) before the throttle advances.
