shift cable is broken on 73 mercury 115. i move shift arm back and forth with my hand but cannot feel when it is in neutral or any gear. any other way to tell when i am in neutral or should i be able to feel it? thanks
There should be a neutral "detent" on the control handle. Also, the throttle should be adjusted so that there is a bit of preload, so you can feel neutral.
