Shift rod bolt

This is probably a long shot, but anyone happen to know what size bolt is used to connect the shift rod at the top under the intake maifold

I's a specialized bolt with a long shaft on it. But, to answer our question, the thread is 1/4-20, and it's about 1-1/2 inches long. The threads are only near the head of the bolt, maybe 3/8 inch, with the rest as shaft.

can he grind off the front threads a bit ..... that bolt is probably worth a mint

I would not buy one either.----Just go to the bin and take the first 6 ( or so ) threads off a 1/4" bolt with a file and put a pointy end on.

I went ahead and bought the pin. I guess I need to check my settings, I never got the notices to all the replies. I do thank you for the advice!
