Hello Ladies aND GENTS, I AM THE OWNER OF A 1992 BAYLINER 3.0 L MERCRUISER ALPHA 2ND GEN, My issue is that i am not getting no power to the front of the boat,
no ignition no gauges no power at all, my question is if i had a screwed up Shift interrupter that broke in half would that have a bearing on why i am not getting current to
the front of the boat? i recently changed my starter as well, if i run power the the alternator i get power to the front of the boat and i get ignition and gauges to work but i get no spark and motor will not turn over! so if my interrupter is faulty will i get ignition to key?

The shift interrupt switch has nothing to do with power to the helm. Do you have power to the B terminal on the ignition switch? If not, check the circuit breaker on the engine, and the square fuse on the starter.

Don't just look at them, that will tell you nothing, check with a meter.

If you have power on the engine and not at the helm and the breakers and fuses are good, then you have an open connection or wire somewhere between.

but i don't have power to the engine ! battery is good put charger on it no crank no power, the only time i could crank the engine is when i put wire to battery from alternator then i get helm and starter crank, if i do not put the wire then i am completely dead, if i have no power to helm i get no ignition and can't crank
motor.

If you have power to and out of the 50A breaker on the engine, then you have power to the engine.

Because you don't have power to the B terminal on the ignition switch.

The red/purple wire connects the 50A breaker to the B terminal on the ignition switch. Somewhere between the engine and the helm, you have a break in the circuit, rather it's a broken wire, loose, or corroded connection only you can find out. Do you have the EST ignition system?

There is also a 15A or 20A fuse on the red purple wire up by the ignition switch, did you check it?
