Shift control

2003 Merc 60HP 4 stroke w/side mount controls. Shift lever/arm seems sloppy and loose. It shifts OK but the lever release does not seam to do much. How do I tighten up the shift lever?

not a stupid question but the unit is a 2003 not that old . it is likly make that way, if not your fine it in mercury control manual it will tell you how too repair if need be

There is a set screw (usually) on the bottom of the shift lever that may need tightened up. Post a picture. Also do a search for quicksilver repairs in the forums.
