Re: Separate vehicle for towing?

How much dirving do you do? I did the math a couple of years ago when the cost of fuel was going up. The dealers were almost giving away large gas guzzling full sized extended cap Trucks. I got mine for almost 15,000 less than it would have cost a year before. I figured I could buy a heck of a lot of gas for that $15000. You can get some pretty good comfortable trucks for less than you pay for one of those cheap little rice burners they sell then spend the extra $ on gas. Just something to think about if you don't do a whole lot of driving.

What about renting a truck for those times when you need a tow vehicle? U-Haul rents for $20/day and .59 / mile.

Hello All,
As another reference point, my 2005 Ram Quad-cab 25004x4 with Cummins gets 18-19mpg around town/commute and I can manage 21.5-22 on trips. Towing is 14-17 (PT cruiser on U-Haul trailer) depending on speed and elevation changes. Speaking of elevation, I managed 23mpg from ABQ to Dallas, all "down hill" :D and no boat.
