I'll be putting new keel rollers on my bunk trailer soon and was wondering if it's really worth switching to self centering rollers or should I just use standard rollers again.
I've never had self centering keel rollers that did just that.
I suppose they would do it if the conditions were perfect.
But with wakes, wind, inertia, etc., it just doesn't seem to work out that way.
For a bigger boat, I would use them though.
Usually you only need a Self centering roller at the very rear position but if your boat has a stepped rear hull or keel, then I suppose a second one may be of some help in the second position from the rear as well. They are more for centering the boat before it approaches the bunks, to prevent the bow keel from missing the roller or getting off center. I'm not sure how well they would work once the boat is over the bunks. Either way, it can't hurt.
