I need some info on how to access the cables at the shifter. It is on a javelin boat with a 225 Evinrude.

Re: selector cable broke

Shift cable runs from the helm unit to the powerhead (under the motor cover). It's replaced as a unit and you'll need the length of the old one to get a replacement. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, take the boat to a BRP dealer.

If you don't have a shop manual, I'd get an OEM one. It needs to be adjusted after the new cable is installed.

Re: selector cable broke

I think you need to tell everyone what kind of control you have on your boat. There is no standard one listed in the parts diagrams. If it is not specifically an OMC control, you may have better luck with the boat manufacturer or with one of the more general discussion forums here.

I think that Teleflex Morse has the most information on controls and cables. They sell all of that here on iboats. Maybe they would be more helpful also.
