We are in the process of buying our first boat big enough to justify a name -- any suggestions on where to go for lists of potential ideas?

Your ideas will be greatly appreciated!
Name it after your spouse. That way when you want to get a bigger boat it won't be as big of issue (cause it'll be named "Spouse II" right?)
Really though, Roscoe speaks the truth.
"We are in the process of buying our first boat big enough to justify a name"
------------------------------

Hey, every boat is big enough to deserve a name. I've named every boat I've ever owned, including my first one-sheet plywood boat.

Oddly, though, the names I give my boats are rarely the names I call them when something goes wrong....
new cruiser, originality is the key plus may be a play on words. my wife and i named our new boat after a friend of ours died of cancer. her name was pearls silver. the name of our boat is the "silver pearl"
This could be an urban legend, or a lie, but I thought it was a great name.

I have a friend that loves boats and women. He trades each just about as often. He said that he got tired of painting and repainting the name of his current squeeze on all of his boats...so he named his latest boat, "After You". That way, whenever his new woman would ask how he named his boat he would say, "baby, I named it "After You"......suuurrre.
Just had to change mine (I know bad luck)Told my ex I,d name my next boat after her, We broke up after 15 years, last year (2 years after we parted ways) I bought the sundancer, and since I keep my word I named it " old misery". Current girl did'nt like it!!!! (can't understand why). This spring I had to rename it. Now its called "THE GROWLERY" (from a ****ens novel, its a place you hole up when pissed off at the world)

Jim
My first boat was named the f-ing boat after a friend told me how #@&*!$ ugly it was. I get alot of laughs out of the name . I myself am trying to name my current boat and have yet to find the right name.
