didnt know there were timing marks on gen ones. I hope I didn't miss that when I resealed my gen 2 (manual 14) this spring....
Only one I know of that needs to be is the 1.65 ratio as they're both 24 teeth. Otherwise, it shouldn't matter....

Imagine trying to put that short yoke into the back side of the stern jack and it's attached to a drive. Slide1.JPGSlide2.JPG

Just curious, how much more speed did the stern jack provide? Does the boat “chine walk” when trimmed out?
Does the boat have a “hook” near the transom? Checkmates are fast hulls as there was a dealer for them years ago here in New Orleans. Most had Mercury outboards.

Don't know how much if any.

Boat was bought from Checkmate in 85 by my Buddies brother who is a doctor. The same model never came with a 383 so no numbers +/-.

I've been in it and speed-o does not keep up and it doesn't have a GPS. Pics of it on the water with 4 people in it, all you see a WOT is maybe 2 inches in the water. It did not chine walk with me and Buddy says it is touchy but pretty stable

Buddy also spent 5K 10 years ago and installed a killer stereo system. It can get loud but it just has some of the best sound I've heard on the water and not even getting loud.

Buddy has a need for speed, he even modified his Seadoo and that thing is scary fast. I drove it WOT and dam I had to back off before it reach max

Oh and when your turning the boat, you can reach over the side and in about 6 inches feel the water

I knew a few guys running them. Some hulls picked up a couple MPH but most had no real change. They sure look cool though.

The 18’ Donzi/ 383MPI I had was scary fast @ 70 on GPS riding up so high the pitot tube would come out of the water. The “K” planes kept the chine walk down. because of the deep V a turn at slow speed brought water to the rub rail.
A guy drove all the way from California to buy the boat.
One thing I remember about the Checkmates is you could hear the water under the hull at speed on smooth water. A good Checkmate is hard to find now.
