i need the part number or a link to the plastic pinion gear for the pull starter that engages the flywheel. mine just cracked and i cant seem to source one on the net.

The motor is a West Bend,Became Chrysler in 65.The recoil starter appears similar on the West Bend model and Chryslers to 73.And may share parts from the 9,9 and 15 Force motors.There may be some differences but perhaps adaptable.The Force pinion is a common problem.

If it's the same plastic pinion as the later Chrysler models you are SOL! I just recently read of a Chrysler collector who refuses to use the pullstarter on his restored motors lest he break the NLA pinion drive gear. He removes the hood and uses a rope on the emergency start sheave atop the flywheel.

1959 (571-58801) is part number 901674-2 (West Bend/Elgin part number) Probably changed under Chrysler/Force.

6hp Chrysler part number is 40674-2

That's all I know.

thanks, now the problem is that i just cant seem to find anyone with this thing in stock. i'd even take a used one at this point.

are the part numbers for the bendix pull start gear that i need. ive emailed a few places but im not having much luck.

IIRC I got one for a 6 hp @ 4-5 years ago from Franz Marine. It's be worth a call to see if he has one---new OR used. 1-816-966-8085

it looks like 901764 is 11 tooth and 40674 is 13 tooth
